THE CITY OF <br />-- ' ~ ° -~~ ~"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~£~S~4NTONo <br />July 15, 2008 <br />City Manager's Office <br />TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION PLACING THE SAVE PLEASANTON'S HILLS St <br />HOUSING CAP INITIATIVE ON THE NOVEMBER 4, 2008 BALLOT; AND <br />APPROVE RELATED ELECTION PROCEDURES <br />SUMMARY <br />On June 17, 2008 the City Council directed staff to return at the Council's July 15 <br />meeting with the required resolution to place the Save Pleasanton's Hills & Housing Cap <br />Initiative on the November 4, 2008 ballot, setting the dates for direct and rebuttal <br />arguments, requesting the City Attorney to prepare an impartial analysis and to provide <br />to the Council options for the ballot question. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the form of the ballot question and adopt a resolution calling for the measure to <br />be placed on the November 4, 2008 ballot, authorize the City Attorney to prepare an <br />impartial analysis, establish dates for submittal dates for direct and rebuttal arguments, <br />and make determinations regarding Council interest in writing a ballot argument. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Costs associated with this item are minimal as funds to conduct the scheduled <br />November 2008 General Municipal Election have been included in the 2008/09 <br />Operating Budget. <br />
