PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1719 <br />A RESOLUTION OF TFTE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF PLEASANTON TO IAMEND CHAPTER 2, TITLE II OF THE <br />ORDINANCE CODE OF'THE CITY OF PLEASANTON BY DELETING <br />ARTICLE 15.5 (H-OR HISTORICAL LANDMARK OVERLAY) <br />DISTRICT IN ITS ENTIRETY. <br />WHEREAS, Article 15.5 was adopted by the City on March 7, 1973; and <br />WHEREAS, Article 15.5 call@d for the establishment of an Historical <br />Landmark Advisory 'Committee to define the procedures <br />for placing historical structures and sites within the <br />City of Pleasanton into the H-O District; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council appointed a five member Historical Landmark <br />Advisory Committe$ in 1977 and adopted an emergency <br />ordinance placing',23 commercial and residential structures <br />into the H-O Dist~*ict; and <br />WHEREAS, on January 9, 197, the City Council denied an ordinance <br />prepared for the ~urpose of replacing Article 15.5 of the <br />Ordinance Code ofthe City of Pleasanton, the H-O (Historical <br />Landmark Overlay)District; and <br />WHEREAS, Article 15.5 as p esently constituted, contains several <br />weaknesses and is vague and inconclusive and has the potential <br />to encourage the emolition of some historic structures which <br />might be placed i to the district; and <br />WHEREAS, the ordinance giv s the Commission the ability to suspend <br />the issuance of a demolition permit for up to 60 days to allow <br />the City or any o her interested party a brief amount of time <br />to purchase the property; and <br />WHEREAS, it is felt that tk~e present ordinance is a poor one and that <br />structures should''inot be placed into the H-O District as it <br />is presently constituted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNINIG COMMISSION RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission recommends deleting entirely <br />Article 15.5 (H-O ,', Historical Landmark Overlay) District, <br />Chapter 2, Title Ix of the Ordinance Code of the City <br />of Pleasanton. <br />
