PLANNING COMMISSION
CITY OF PLEASANTON
COUNTY OF ALAMEDA
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION NO. 1788
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PLEASANTON DENYING A USE PERMIT AS FILED UNDER UP-79-18
FOR A PIONEER CHICKEN
WHEREAS, Pioneer Chicken has applied for a conditional use permit
to allow a take-out fast food restaurant facility to be
located in the planned building at 927 Main Street; and
WHEREAS, the zoning for the property is C-C (Central Commercial)
District; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on August 8, 1979 before the
Planning Commission, at which time all pertinent reports,
documents and testimony were reviewed; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission could not make the required findings
to grant this use permit as, Pioneer Chicken would generate
a considerable amount of automobile traffic; and the subject
property is located adjacent to the intersection of Stanley
Boulevard and Main Street and is only 120 ft. south of the
point where the Western Pacific Railroad tracks cross the
latter thoroughfare; and its location would add congestion
to the street and on the site itself and the subject property
is only a few hundred feet from Amador High School, an open
campus which generates a large amount of vehicular, pedestrian
traffic; and Pioneer Chicken would probably serve as a focus
for these students, thereby adding even further congestion to
the area; and Pioneer Chicken would be the first fast food/
take-out type restaurant in the downtown area and its estab-
lishment may set a precedent for other such restaurants
thereby creating the potential for changing the nature of
the downtown.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING:
Section 1. The Planning Commission denies UP-79-18, the application
of Pioneer Chicken.
///
