CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 86-315 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR THE <br /> NOVEMBER 4, 1986 MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the City <br /> Council to establish certain charges for handling <br /> candidate election materials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City council at its meeting of July 15, 1986, <br /> considered the options available under the <br /> above-mentioned section pertaining to the length of the <br /> candidate's statement, billing candidates the pro rata <br /> cost of printing and mailing to voters the candidate's <br /> statements and setting rules and regulations for <br /> additional materials; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: Candidates will be charged a pro rata amount for the <br /> cost of printing their statement of qualifications. <br /> <br /> Section 2: The candidate's statement of qualifications shall not <br /> exceed 200 words. <br /> <br /> Section 3: No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and <br /> sample ballot shall be transmitted by the City Clerk to <br /> the voters. If a candidate wishes to send additional <br /> materials to the voters, it will have to be at the <br /> candidate's expense and by persons other than the City. <br /> <br /> Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JULY 15, 1986 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Mercer and Mohr <br /> NOES: None <br /> Mayor Bra es <br /> ABSTAIN: None ~ ~ <br /> <br /> ATTEST: //~ ~ <br /> F BRANDES, J YOR <br /> <br />~James R.
