Purpose The purpose of this initiative is to protect our city from uncontrolled growth and the impact it figs on rlfge6nes and hillsides, traffic, schools. water supply, and our overall quality of life. Policy 12.3: Ridgefines and hillsides shall be protected. Housing units and strtxxures shall not tie placed on slopes -of 25 percent or greater, or within 100 vertical feet of a ridgeline. No grading to construct residential or cbmn'~ercial structures ahab occur on hillside slopes 2594 or greater, a within 100 vertical feet of a ridgel'ine. Exempt from this policy are housing devebpments of 10 or fewer housing units on a single property that was, as of January 1, 2007, "legal par+c~P pursuant to the California Subd'nrlsion Map lave. The provisions of this initiative may be amended or repealed only by the voters of the City of Pleasanton at a City genera election and overrides any existing General Plan. Notice of Intent to Circulab Petition Notce is hereby liven by the persons whose names appear hereon of their Intention to circulate the petition within the' City of Pleasanton for the purpose of amending the August 8, 1996 General Plan: A statement of the reasons of the proposed action as conbmplated in the petition is as follows: 1) Protect our scenic hilts from development that destroys the character of our town. 2) To direct development and development speculation away from finds with environmentally sensitive features, lands with primary open space values, and lands difficult to service by ~existirp jurisdictions. 3) Exempt 10 or ksa housing units and supportlng lnfrastrurxure on '"Iega1 parcels' of January 1, 20071hom hillside development restrictions. 4) Pbasanton should be consistent with the U.S. Census Bureau and State of California definitions of a housing unit when calculating the housing cap. 5) Remove the loophole that is albwing the city m exclude housing unit from our voter imposed ItousMg cap• .
