1 <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 3, 2008 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Vice Mayor Thorne led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Introductory Comments: Vice Mayor Thorne announced the following: The 2008 Concert <br />Park Series begins Friday, June 6th; the Senior Center will be closed for routine maintenance <br />June 9-13, and will re-open June 16th. During the closure, the Spectrum lunch program will <br />move to the Veteran's Memorial Building. <br />As done in the past, Vice Mayor Thorne highlighted soldiers that have served in one of the <br />current war zones, their families and introduced Lieutenant Corporal Jesse Pearson and <br />Corporal Isaiah Hinton, U.S. Marine Corps. He also introduced Mike Conklin of Danville, father <br />of 3 Army Rangers, his work with the Sentinels of Freedom program and discussed the heroic <br />efforts of Victor, a soldier who was awarded the Silver Star and welcomed him home. <br />Roll Call <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio (8:35 p.m.), McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor <br />Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS: City Manager Fialho reported that Item 13 is pulled from the <br />agenda, and Mayor Hosterman said Item 18 would be heard ahead of Item 17. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Administrative Services <br />Approved regular meeting minutes of May 6, 2008 <br />2. Adopted Resolution No. 08-209 calling and giving notice of the holding of a general <br />municipal election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, for the election of a mayor <br />and two members of the city council and requesting the Board of Supervisors of the <br />County of Alameda to consolidate the election; and Resolution No. 08-210 adopting <br />regulations for candidates for elective office pertaining to candidate statements <br />City Attorney <br />3. Authorized the Mayor to send a letter of support and/or opposition to pending state <br />legislation concerning (a) plastic bottle recycling [support], (b) binding arbitration for <br />contract disputes [oppose], (c) public contracting requirements [oppose], (d) clarifying <br />density bonus law [support) <br />
