PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1516 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING <br />TO THE CITY COUNCIL AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS 2-7.17(i) <br />AND 2-7.20(1)(a) OF THE ZONING CODE RELATING TO OFFICE <br />USES IN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS. <br />WHEREAS, a request was received from the master lessee of the <br />former Volkswagen distribution center on Johnson <br />Industrial Drive to allow the leasing of office space <br />within the administrative office building to people <br />requiring space from 150 sq. ft. to 3,000 sq. ft.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission reviewed the request on April <br />13, 1977 at which time they requested a survey and <br />inventory of available office space in the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning staff prepared a survey of office space <br />and submitted a report on that survey to the Planning <br />Commission on May 3, 1977 at a special meeting held <br />to consider the request of the master lessee; and <br />WHEREAS, the staff's study reported that permitting office <br />space to be leased in small units in Industrial <br />Districts would negatively impact other office areas <br />in the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the staff recommended, as a compromise, the modifica- <br />tion of Section 2-7.20(1)(a), Article 9, (I District), <br />Chapter II (Zoning), Title II (Zoning and Development) <br />which limits offices in I Districts from "Regional <br />Administrative Offices" in excess of 5,000 sq. ft. to <br />"General Offices" in excess of 2,000 sq. ft.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission held a public hearing on the proposed <br />change and considered the staff report and testimony <br />from the master lessee and members of the public. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. That the City Council appove an ordinance code <br />amendment as follows: <br />a) That subsection (i) of Section 2-7.17 (Purposes), <br />_ Article 9 (I-Industrial Districts), Chapter 2 <br />(Zoning), Title II (Zoning and Development) be <br />deleted. <br />-1- <br />
