PLANNING COMMISSION
City of Pleasanton
RESOLUTION NO. 1224
A resolution of the Planning Commission recommending
to Alameda County Planning Commission denial of
1098th Unit - proposed rezoning.
WHEREAS, the referral from Alameda County Planning Commission
regarding 1098th Unit - Rita M. Post - petition
to reclassify from the A (Agricultural) District
to the M-1 (Light Industrial) District, a parcel
containing approximately 21.35 acres, located on
the Interstate 4580 frontage road, south side,
0.6 mile east of E1 Charro Road, Livermore-Pleasanton
Township - proposed use is a drive-in movie theater,
has come before this Commission, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Pleasanton
has reviewed this referral and has examined
pertinent maps, drawings and documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission of the City
of Pleasanton recommends to Alameda County Planning
Commission the denial of said application due to
the following:
1. That the site is near the approach zone of the
Livermore Airport and to allow a place of assembly
in such an area is completely contrary to proper
airport land use planning.
2. It does not appear that the Airport Land Use
Commission has been apprised of this application.
3. The State and Alameda County have specified
Interstate Ii580 as a scenic highway and the con-
struction of something as unaesthetic as a drive-in
movie would be contrary to that decision.
4. Unless the drive-in were constructed in such a
manner that no part of the viewing screen were
visible from Interstate it580, it would constitute a
traffic hazard for people traversing that freeway.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Planning Commission of the City of Pleasanton on
the 23rd day of January, 1973, by the following vote:
Ayes: Commissioners Carrigan, McLain,
Pereira, Wood and Chairman Pons
Noes:
Absent:
Abstain:
Attest: Secretary
~' ~
Eugene D. Pons, airman
