PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />RESOLUTION N0. 1219 <br />A resolution of the Planning Commission <br />recommending to the City Council the adoption <br />of an ordinance amendment providing for an <br />historical landmark overlay zoning district. <br />WHEREAS, the application of the Planning Commission and <br />the City of Pleasanton to amend the Ordinance <br />Code of the City of Pleasanton so as to provide <br />for the preservation of historical landmarks <br />has come before this Commission, and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, of the City of <br />Pleasanton has held a public hearing on this <br />application and has examined pertinent maps, <br />drawings and documents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission <br />of the City of Pleasanton does hereby amend <br />Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of <br />the City of Pleasanton by the Addition of <br />Article 15.5 providing for an H-0 (Historical <br />Landmark Overlay) District, said Article as <br />added to provide as follows: <br />"H-0 (Historical Landmark Overlay) District <br />§ 2-9.11 Purpose. The H-0 (Historical Landmark Overlay) <br />District is established for the purpose of protecting <br />and preserving buildings, sites or structures which <br />are, because of age, association or architecture of <br />special historical or aesthetic interest or character <br />and as such add an impact upon the economic well being <br />and general welfare of the residents of the City of <br />Pleasanton. <br />§ 2-9.12 Initiation. An amendment to reclassify property <br />to an H-0 District may be initiated by the property <br />owner, City Planning Commission, City Council or the <br />Historical Landmark Advisory Committee. <br />§ 2-g .13 Historical Landmark Advistory Committee. There <br />is hereby created a Historical Landmark Advisory Com- <br />mittee which shall advise the Department of Community <br />Development, Planning Commission and City Council on <br />matters relating to the designation and preservation <br />of historical landmarks. The Committee shall consist <br />of five voting members appointed by the City Council <br />and serving at their pleasure without salary. The <br />terms thereof shall be for two years. Appointed to <br />the Committee shall be persons specially qualified by <br />reason of training or experience in the historical and <br />cultural traditions of the City of Pleasanton and <br />interested in the preservation of its historic struc- <br />tures, sites and area. Members shall be residents of <br />the City and shall elect from amongst the membership <br />a chairman and establish rules and regulations for <br />the organization and procedure to be used by the <br />Committee. <br />
