PLANNING COMMISSION Pleasanton, California RESOLUTION N0. 1219 A resolution of the Planning Commission recommending to the City Council the adoption of an ordinance amendment providing for an historical landmark overlay zoning district. WHEREAS, the application of the Planning Commission and the City of Pleasanton to amend the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton so as to provide for the preservation of historical landmarks has come before this Commission, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, of the City of Pleasanton has held a public hearing on this application and has examined pertinent maps, drawings and documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission of the City of Pleasanton does hereby amend Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton by the Addition of Article 15.5 providing for an H-0 (Historical Landmark Overlay) District, said Article as added to provide as follows: "H-0 (Historical Landmark Overlay) District § 2-9.11 Purpose. The H-0 (Historical Landmark Overlay) District is established for the purpose of protecting and preserving buildings, sites or structures which are, because of age, association or architecture of special historical or aesthetic interest or character and as such add an impact upon the economic well being and general welfare of the residents of the City of Pleasanton. § 2-9.12 Initiation. An amendment to reclassify property to an H-0 District may be initiated by the property owner, City Planning Commission, City Council or the Historical Landmark Advisory Committee. § 2-g .13 Historical Landmark Advistory Committee. There is hereby created a Historical Landmark Advisory Com- mittee which shall advise the Department of Community Development, Planning Commission and City Council on matters relating to the designation and preservation of historical landmarks. The Committee shall consist of five voting members appointed by the City Council and serving at their pleasure without salary. The terms thereof shall be for two years. Appointed to the Committee shall be persons specially qualified by reason of training or experience in the historical and cultural traditions of the City of Pleasanton and interested in the preservation of its historic struc- tures, sites and area. Members shall be residents of the City and shall elect from amongst the membership a chairman and establish rules and regulations for the organization and procedure to be used by the Committee.
