At the second workshop on April 5, 2007, the Commission reviewed
various park use options to accommodate desired amenities, including
all weather sports fields (soccer, football, and lacrosse); a baseball field;
tennis courts; afour-rink ice facility; bocce ball courts; dog exercise area;
restrooms; parking; and trails/open space. Following community input,
the Commission requested that staff prepare a draft site plan diagram
and background text (concept plan) consisting of the above uses,
eliminating the proposed baseball field but adding a lawn bowling area.
The Commission conducted its final meeting regarding the proposed
Staples Ranch Community Park conceptual plan at its regularly
scheduled meeting on April 12, 2007. The Commission was unanimous
in its support for the proposed ice skating facility, in addition to the
following elements:
• Two (2)all-weather, lighted sports fields suitable
for soccer, football and lacrosse
• Six (6) lighted tennis courts
• A four-rink ice skating facility
• Bocce ball courts (2)
• Dog exercise area
• Lawn bowling
• Passive open space
• Trails and trail heads
• Two (2) restrooms
• Parking
