2.1.1
2.1 site access
VEHICULAR CIRCULATION
Roads
The primary vehicular access to the Community Park would be from
the extension of Stoneridge Drive. This access road would lead vehicles
adjacent to the Arroyo Mocho and into a parking lot designated for
park users. This road would also include an EVA, drop off areas for
Pleasanton residents, and access to a loading zone for the proposed ice
arena.
Entry Points
The main entry point at the south-west side of the park would be
highlighted by decorative crosswalk treatments, landscaping, and an
entry monument. The location of this 0.36 -acre entry area would
welcome park patrons in vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. It is
at this point that the Regional Trail crosses under Stoneridge Drive.
Controlled Access Points
The Staples Ranch Community Park Master Plan shows two areas on
either side of the proposed ice arena designated, `Controlled Access
Points'. These are proposed as bollarded or gated vehicular drive-
thrus, designed to prevent potential commuters from using the arena
parking lot as a short-cut to 1580. The drive-thrus would be available
to the arena for emergency vehicles, maintenance access, and/or
loading needs to be determined at the City's discretion. If at some
point the City found there was enough demand for use of the arena
parking for the Community Park, those drive-thrus could be opened to
provide additional parking for the park.
