Between the two workshops on February 7 and 9, 37 separate ideas
were offered by participants to describe the character or feel of the
park. Many ideas had overlapping themes or were complementary. Of
those ideas generated in the brainstorm, six vision statements or ideas
received the most support, representing a higher level of interest in the
character represented by the statement. Those six ideas included:
• Suitable for all ages
• Open space
• Serenity /Calm/ Relaxing
• Active /recreational opportunities
• Visually appealing
• Soft edge, smooth transition from park to Arroyo
The qualities listed above were then used to help guide the designers
during the process of laying-out the park. The overall vision statements
were coupled with the specific input provided by the participants
regarding potential park amenities.
The participants of the break-out groups generated more than 100
points of input. Most of these comments involved specific items or
facilities that they wanted to see implemented within the park.
