including significant outreach to the community and public workshops <br />regarding the park configuration/amenities, with the outcome presented <br />to the Parks and Recreation Commission and then the Council. <br />To assist in this important public process, staff contacted the landscape <br />architecture firm RRM Design Group, located in San Luis Obispo. On <br />December 18, 2007, the City Council ratified a design contract with RRM <br />Design Group, asking that the master plan process for Staples Ranch <br />Community Park be completed within 4-5 months. <br />1.2 site description <br />The project site is proposed on 22 acres currently located in the County <br />of Alameda. The park site is part of the larger, approximately 110 -acre <br />Staples Ranch Project, soon to be annexed to the City of Pleasanton. <br />The property is owned by the County Surplus Property Authority, and <br />is being sold to several private entities for commercial development. <br />The land immediately to the north and north-east is part of an exisfing <br />master plan being considered by the City and Alameda County that <br />would include an auto mall and retail center. Staples Ranch Community <br />Park is just to the south, and is bordered by EI Charro Road on the east; <br />the Arroyo Mocho and Stoneridge Drive on the south and south west, <br />respectively; and the proposed Continuing Life Communities (CLC) <br />development on the west. The site is vacant, and experiences wind on a <br />regular basis. There is currently no through road from Stoneridge Drive <br />to EI Charro Road. <br />
