RESOLUTION NO. 08-195 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION (USED OIL <br />RECYCLING BLOCK GRANT APPLICATION) TO THE CALIFORNIA <br />INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD <br />WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Oil <br />Recycling Enhancement Act that provides funds to cities and counties for establishing <br />and maintaining local used oil collection programs that encourage recycling or <br />appropriate disposal of used oil; and <br />WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been <br />delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the state; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton will enter into an agreement with the State of <br />California for implementation of a used oil collection program; and <br />WHEREAS, that submission of an ongoing waste oil block grant application to <br />educate and assist residents in the proper disposal of waste oil and filters will continue; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, that the Used Oil Recycling Block Grant Program is funded by oil <br />consumers in California and is administered by the California Integrated Waste <br />Management Board and the Used Oil Grant will be managed by the Livermore- <br />Pleasanton Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, that on May 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Pleasanton Council <br />Chambers, 200 Old Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton, the City Council considered the <br />application for the above waste oil block grant. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER <br />THE FOLLOWING: <br />SECTION 1. The City Council authorizes the submittal of an application to the <br />California Integrated Waste Management Board fora 2008/2009 Used Oil Recycling <br />Block Grant. <br />SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, is authorized to execute all <br />necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments for <br />the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes <br />specified in the grant application. <br />SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its <br />passage and adoption. <br />
