The sampling manholes may be used in lieu of a cleanout, but
never the reverse. A manhole at the connection of the site
lateral to the public main may not be used as a sampling
manhole. The requirement to use the larger manhole will be
noted in the conditions of approval for the project.

Metering manholes, per City Standard Drawing PRIV-5, must be
constructed where one of the following criteria apply:

1. The potential user is one of the 34 NRDC industries for
which USEPA intends to set Categorical Standards (and is not
in an exempt subcategory).

2. The average flow exceeds 25,000 gallons per day (gpd)
or the average BOD5 or suspended solids loading exceeds
50 pounds per day.

3. The average flow exceeds 2,500 gpd, and priority
pollutants or prohibited discharge pollutants are known to
be present.

4. The average flow is less than 2,500 gpd, and priority
pollutants or prohibited discharge pollutants are known to
be present in significant concentrations.

5. The potential user either is known to have caused, is
suspected of having caused, or has the potential to cause,
operational problems at the Dublin San Ramon Services
District (D.S.R.S.D.) wastewater treatment plant.

Specific determinations on what classes qualify for the above
will be made by the D.S.R.S.D. Industrial Waste Inspector.

E. Fire System:
1. Review and Approval:

The Fire Marshal must review and approve onsite fire
systems, including system layout, appurtenance location,
fire hydrant spacing, etc. Shop drawings must be submitted
by the fire sprinkler contractor to the Fire Marshal for
final approval prior to commencing installation of any part
of the system. Any revisions to the plan during
construction must be approved in writing by the Fire
Marshal. Prior to occupancy of a commercial or industrial
project an 8 1/2" x 11" plan of the site must be submitted
to the Fire Marshal showing the locations of:

16
