City Manager <br />2. Waived second reading and adopted Ordinance No. 1973 authorizing an amendment to <br />the contract between the City of Pleasanton and the California Public Employees <br />Retirement System to provide Section 214548 Pre-Retirement Option 2W Death Benefit <br />for Local Fire Members <br />3. Adopted Resolution No. 08-178 approving appointments to various Commissions and <br />Committees <br />4. Adopted Resolution No. 08-179 establishing a goal of 75% reduction of waste going to <br />landfills by 2010 in accordance with the countywide 75% waste reduction goal; adopted <br />Resolution No. 08-180 establishing Bay-Friendly landscaping requirement for City funded <br />projects including traditional public works projects, and public provide partnerships, and <br />approved a letter from the City Manager to the Alameda County Waste Management <br />Authority clarifying that the City will certify all covered projects through the United States <br />Green Building Council <br />Councilmember Sullivan reported that the City is enhancing its Civic Green Building <br />Ordinance, is currently at about a 73% waste diversion rate, adopted the Bay Friendly <br />Landscape Guidelines for City activities relating to keeping pesticides out of the Bay and <br />hope to soon adopt the Demolition Debris Ordinance. He said the City is also working with <br />the garbage service through re-negotiation of rates to propose additional programs such <br />as curbside and commercial recycling programs. <br />Finance <br />5. Accepted the monthly disbursements and investment report for February 2008 <br />6. Adopted Resolution No. 08-181 approving the Investment Policy and Guidelines FY <br />2008-09 <br />Fire <br />7. Public Hearing: adopted Resolution No. 08-182 approving the 2008 Weed Abatement <br />Program and authorizing the abatement of weeds, rubbish, dirt, or refuse upon or in front <br />of certain described properties with the City <br />Parks and Community Services <br />8. Adopted Resolution No. 08-183 naming a future trail on the Bernal Property the "Marilyn <br />Murphy Kane Trail" <br />Councilmember McGovern said she was thrilled that the Kane family came forward with <br />their donation and the trail could be named in Marilyn Murphy Kane's memory. <br />Planning <br />9.
