• <br /> <br />CHILD CARE CENTERS <br />EVALUATOR MANUAL GENERAL LICElti'SING REQUTREMENT5 <br />101158 EXEMPTION FROM LICENSURE (Continued) 101158 <br />(a}(7) PROCEDURE (Continued) <br />In determining "normal school hours" orperiods when students are <br />`;:or;nally not in session, "the State ~apartme;~t of Social Se; JiceS <br />. shall, where appropriate, consider the normal school hours or <br />periods when students are normally not in session for students <br />attending ayear-round school. <br />2. The program is provided to children who are over the age of four years and <br />nine months and n'ot yet enrolled in school and the program is operated <br />during either of the following periods: <br />(A) Far under 16 hours per week <br />(B) For a total of 12 weeks or less during a 12-month period. This total <br />applies to any 12 weeks within any I2-month period, without regard <br />to whether the weeks are consecutive. <br />3. The program is provided to children under the age of four years and nine <br />months with sessions that run 12 hours per week or less and are 12 weeks or <br />less in duration. A prop am subject to this paragraph may permit children <br />to be enrolled in consecutive sessions throughout the year. However, the <br />program shall not permit children to be enrolled in a combination ofsessions <br />that total more than 12 hours per week for each child. <br />In order to remain exempt, a program for children under the age. of four years and nine <br />months (preschoolers) may permit children to be enrolled in consecutive sessions throughout :~ <br />the year; however, the program cannot permit children to be enrolled in a combination of 1'-~1`, l"' ~ <br />sessions that total more than 12 hours per week for each child. The facility must maintain <br />enrollment records to ensure that no preschool-age child is enrolled in sessions for more than <br />12 hours per week If any child exceeds 12 hours per weep the program is no longer exempt <br />and must apply for licensure. <br />Consecutive, or "back-to-back" sessions--and/or a combination ofsessions--are permitted <br />for children over the age of four years and nine months {school-age children) in exempt ~'~~.- <br />programs; that is, programs that operate for less than 16 hours per week----or for more than S,t fy tom. ~ ` <br />15 hours per week and are Iess than 12 weeks induration. <br />4.
