Transportation Development Act Claim Form <br />TDA 4.5 Document E(a) <br />Description of Applicant and Transit System <br />1. Service and Operations Description <br />The City of Pleasanton Pazatransit Service (PPS) provides transportation to <br />Pleasanton/Sunol senior residents 60 years or older, and disabled residents ages <br />18 yeazs and older. Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) <br />determines ADA eligibility for disabled residents. The purpose of this program is <br />to reduce isolation, increase socialization, and encourage independent living, <br />thereby minimizing the need for institutionalization and enhancing the quality of <br />life for residents no longer able to drive or those who do not have a car available <br />to them. This program provides door-to-door, driver-assisted transportation. A <br />client application is required to participate in the service. <br />The PPS fleet includes one (1) van and six (6) mini-buses/vans. This demand- <br />responsive service is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., <br />and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There are five (5) drivers scheduled on <br />weekdays, and two (2) drivers on Saturday. The service does not operate on <br />Sunday. When PPS is not operating, LAVTA provides comparable services to <br />ADA eligible clients. <br />There are two (2) full-time and eight (8) part-time drivers, all City of Pleasanton <br />employees. All drivers are hired, trained and supervised by the City. There is <br />currently one (1) full-time and one (1) part-time dispatcher, who are both City <br />employees, and apart-time office aide, who assists with passenger reservations. A <br />Recreation Supervisor and Community Services Manager provide management <br />for the program. <br />The faze structure is divided into two (2) azeas of service: (1) In-town service, and <br />(2) Out-of--town service. Pleasanton residents pay $2.50 for in-town service, and <br />$3.00 for out-of--town service. Residents living in Sunol and the unincorporated <br />azeas of Pleasanton pay $3.00 for in-town service, and $3.50 for out-of--town <br />service. Rider punch cazds are sold for $25.00 and $30.00, and are purchased in <br />advance through the Pleasanton Senior Center. Drivers punch the client cazd <br />according to the destination. The City of Pleasanton also funds a scholazship <br />program for all residents that meet Federal Housing and Urban Development <br />(HUD) income guidelines. Seniors who aze eligible may ride at a 50% discount, <br />up to $200. <br />The PPS area covers all of Pleasanton, its unincorporated areas, and Sunol. <br />Limited service to medical appointments in Livermore, Dublin, and San Ramon is <br />permitted to specific, approved destinations. <br />
