4 <br />THE CITY OF <br />-~ -'- ~"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~E~S~4NTONo <br />May 6, 2008 <br />Finance Department <br />TITLE: AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY'S BUSINESS LICENSE TAX <br />ORDINANCE <br />SUMMARY <br />These amendments to the City's Business License Tax do not raise the license tax but <br />clarify how the license tax is imposed on certain businesses such as rental properties, <br />non-revenue producing businesses and start up companies. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Introduce an ordinance amending sections 5.04.010, 5.08.020, 5.08.040, 5.08.050, <br />5.08.100, 5.08.110, 5.12.030, 5.20.010 and 5.20.020 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br />concerning Business License Taxes. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />These changes should result in the City's receiving additional business license tax from <br />businesses that historically have escaped paying any such taxes because they do not <br />generate gross receipts. <br />
