RESOLUTION NO. 08-183 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON NAMING THE TRAIL ON THE WESTERN PARCEL OF THE BERNAL PROPERTY THE "MARILYN MURPHY KANE TRAIL" WHEREAS, Marilyn Murphy Kane was a longtime Pleasanton resident who was actively involved in community affairs; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Kane actively advocated fora "walking park" type facility on the Bernal Property; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Kane volunteered her services and led walking tours of the Bernal Property during the City's Bernal Block Party; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Kane passed away suddenly on November 11, 2006; and WHEREAS, her husband Jim, and children Tom, Lisa, and Bruce have committed up to $1 Million toward completion of the trail on the western parcel of the Bernal Property, near the Arroyo de la Laguna, to honor Mrs. Kane's memory. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: Section 1: That the City Council, on behalf of the Pleasanton community, expresses its great appreciation to the Kane Family for its very generous gift. Section 2: That the future trail on the west side of the Bernal Property along the Arroyo de la Laguna be named the "Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail." Section 3: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on April 15, 2008.
