RESOLUTION NO. 08-183 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON NAMING <br />THE TRAIL ON THE WESTERN PARCEL OF THE BERNAL PROPERTY THE <br />"MARILYN MURPHY KANE TRAIL" <br />WHEREAS, Marilyn Murphy Kane was a longtime Pleasanton resident who was actively <br />involved in community affairs; and <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. Kane actively advocated fora "walking park" type facility on the Bernal <br />Property; and <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. Kane volunteered her services and led walking tours of the Bernal <br />Property during the City's Bernal Block Party; and <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. Kane passed away suddenly on November 11, 2006; and <br />WHEREAS, her husband Jim, and children Tom, Lisa, and Bruce have committed up to <br />$1 Million toward completion of the trail on the western parcel of the Bernal Property, near the <br />Arroyo de la Laguna, to honor Mrs. Kane's memory. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br />Section 1: That the City Council, on behalf of the Pleasanton community, expresses its great <br />appreciation to the Kane Family for its very generous gift. <br />Section 2: That the future trail on the west side of the Bernal Property along the Arroyo de la <br />Laguna be named the "Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail." <br />Section 3: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution and enter it into the <br />book of original resolutions. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br />a regular meeting held on April 15, 2008. <br />I, Karen Diaz, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br />resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 15th day of April <br />2008, by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: Councilmember Throne <br />Karen iaz, City Clerk <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />Michael H.
