ORDINANCE NO. 1973 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AUTHORIZING <br />AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AND THE <br />CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM TO PROVIDE SECTION 21548 <br />PRE-RETIREMENT OPTION 2W DEATH BENEFIT FOR LOCAL FIRE MEMBERS <br />WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Pleasanton authorizes an amendment to the contract <br />between the City Council of the City of Pleasanton and the Board of Administration of the California <br />Public Employees' Retirement System; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. That an amendment to the contract between the City Council of the City of <br />Pleasanton and the Board of Administration, California Public Employees' Retirement System is hereby <br />authorized, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, marked Exhibit A, and by such reference <br />made a part hereof as though herein set out in full. <br />Section 2. The Mayor of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton is hereby authorized, <br />empowered, and directed to execute said amendment for and on behalf of said Agency. <br />Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect May 17, 2008. <br />Section 4. Prior to the expiration of thirty days from the passage thereof, a summary of this <br />ordinance shall be published once within (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times," a newspaper <br />of general circulation published in the City of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for <br />fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. <br />The foregoing Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />Pleasanton held on the 18th day of March 2008 by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />And was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on held on the <br />15th day of April, 2008 by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sulliv h, ayor Hoster n <br />Noes: Councilmember Thorne <br />Absent: None <br />ATTEST: <br />Karen iaz, City Clerk <br />Jer}-rSifer H~sterman, Mayor <br />APPROV1E~ TO FOR~`l~~ <br />Mich//aelll~/ llH.
