Public Comment <br />Julie Lewis, addressed the City Council, said Amazing Voyage will be presented on March 29, <br />2008, recognized Jerry Thorne for his support of the program in its third year, said they have <br />received grants from the Tri-Valley Community Foundation and commended all of the young <br />talent in the community. <br />Kathy Dowding, addressed the City Council, said tomorrow will be the 5 year anniversary of the <br />beginning of the war in Iraq, the death toll stood at 3,988 American soldiers and 15 more <br />soldiers had lost their lives since the last Council meeting. Estimates of war costs range from $3 <br />to $7 Trillion, she believed the money could have been put to much better use to benefit the <br />American people as well as veterans and she read the names of soldiers who lost their lives <br />since March 4, 2008. <br />Fred Norman, addressed the City Council, said 15 more American men/women had been killed <br />in Iraq, believes the surge is not working as purported and questioned reasons why so many <br />support the war and denounce peace. <br />Joe Ely, addressed the City Council, spoke on the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq, said the <br />Pleasantonians for Peace would be holding a Candlelight Vigil on the 5th Anniversary on <br />Wednesday, March 19th at 7:00 PM in front of the Museum on Main Street, they will reflect on <br />the human and monetary costs of the war, honor veterans for their sacrifices, and visualize <br />ways toward a more peaceful world. <br />Les Young, addressed the City Council, said he attended a meeting last year on May 1St and <br />spoke regarding RV parking and a resident who had been operating a business on Moore but <br />had since moved. He contacted staff two weeks ago and learned that the matter was still being <br />researched, said he could not understand why after 8 to 9 months it was still being reviewed, <br />and asked that it be resolved. <br />Mayor Hosterman suggested moving Public Hearings and Other Matters up due to the Kane <br />family not being able to be present until 7:30 PM. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />13. Received an Information report regarding Zone 7's presentation on environmental <br />issues in the Delta and its impact to the Tri-Valley's water supply <br />Director of Public Works Rob Wilson said the City is a water retailer and buys water and delivers <br />it to its residents and businesses from Zone 7 Water Agency who gets its water from several <br />sources. Last summer there were issues regarding the ability to supply water in the South Bay <br />Aqueduct which meant more in-valley storage necessary to meet demands of the residents in <br />City Council Minutes 3 March 18, 2008 <br />
