MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />12. Public Comment <br />R. Jo Molz, representing Blankets for Kids, invited the City Council and staff to their Stn <br />anniversary to be held on Wednesday, March 19~' at noon at Ridgeview Commons. <br />Allen Roberts provided a brief update on the referendum for Oak Grove and voiced opposition <br />to the City taking a neutral position. <br />Kay Ayala voiced concern with developers getting around the referendum process and asked <br />that the matter be appealed by the City if the Judge rules against it. <br />Lou Astbury supported the Council and City staff's laborious efforts on the Oak Grove <br />development for over 16 years and believed that slow and measured growth was a good thing <br />for the City. <br />Ray Thompson read points on the referendum process. <br />Kathy Dowding noted the number of American soldiers who had lost their lives since the war <br />began and announced the names of the 11 soldiers who lost their lives since the last Council <br />meeting. <br />Councilmember Sullivan said he would address consideration of holding a hearing on the matter <br />under Council Reports and thanked Ms. Dowding for her comments. <br />James Connors, owner/operator of Hap's Restaurant, discussed a dispute between them and <br />the owners of the Pleasanton Station parking lot regarding grease in the parking lot, stating a 6- <br />foot tall cement wall was illegally erected by Michael Callahan on Saturday and Sunday without <br />permits or engineering. <br />Mayor Hosterman said the Council voted to approve Item 6 on the Consent Calendar, which <br />was a resolution approved to by the two property owners. She believed the issue was <br />emotionally charged and hoped the situation would get resolved between the parties. <br />Woody Pereira referred to Item 6, said a permit was obtained, his son and partners were not <br />aware certain items being necessary at the time of construction and the City has properly <br />addressed the situation. <br />Karla Brown asked the Council to consider the most neutral and least biased of the 4 options <br />regarding putting Oak Grove on the ballot, which she believed was Option 1. <br />Lee Fulton spoke about the Oak Grove process, said circulators of the referendum petition had <br />no intent to deceive citizens regarding the petition, said they provided all related information <br />expected of them and believed the developer's intent was to disallow citizens to exercise their <br />legal rights. <br />City Council Minutes 3 March 4, 2008 <br />
