ATTACHMENT 3 <br />~=~.. Guidelines for Grantseekers <br />~~ DEADLINE: APRIL 4, 2008 <br />Altamont Settlement Agreement <br />Education Advisory Board <br />A. What is the goal of the Education Advisory Board? <br />The goal of the Education Advisory Board is to promote recycling and <br />diversion education programs and recycling through: <br />• Environmental education programs that serve schools; <br />• Non-formal environmental education programs, serving students, K-12; <br />• Community-based environmental education programs; <br />• Job training in the field of waste diversion and recycling. <br />B. What categories do the Board fund and how much money is available in each category? <br />The Educational Advisory Board offers mini-grants, ranging from $500-$3,000 each, and <br />project grants, which average approximately $20,000 each, with a maximum request of <br />$50,000. <br />C. What amount of money can an applicant expect and what are the terms? <br />The length of grants is one year for mini-grants as well as for project grants. The Board <br />will also consider multiple-year grants (up to three years). If applying for amultiple-year <br />grant, applicants must provide justification and an annual budget and schedule. A limited <br />number of multiple-year grants in excess of $50,000 will be considered. <br />D. Who is Eligible to Apply? <br />Grant money is limited to those serving citizens of Alameda County and the cities of San <br />Ramon and San Francisco, with the exception of franchise waste haulers. <br />E. What is the Process for Applying? <br />Mini-grant applicants must submit amini-grant application, enclosed with this packet and <br />also available online. Applications must be received by Friday, Apri14, 2008. If all mini- <br />grant funds are not disbursed, applications will be accepted throughout the school year. <br />Project grant applicants must submit a project grant application, enclosed with this packet <br />and also available online, and must also include other requested information by the <br />deadline of Friday, April 4, for the 2008 calendar year. <br />Multi-year grants must submit a project grant application, enclosed with this packet and <br />also available online.
