EXHIBIT "A"
2008/2009 Expenditure Plan
Altamont Settlement Agreement
Education Advisory Board
Plan Summary
The Altamont Landfill Settlement Agreement created the
Altamont Education Advisory Board to propose allocation of
funds in the Education Account for diversion education
programs, job training in the field of waste diversion and
recycling and mitigating the impacts of the landfill operations
on the affected neighboring community. Funds generated from
the $0.29 per ton surcharge originating from the Altamont
Landfill are expected to amount to approximately $325,000
annually. This per ton surcharge fee will be increase based on
the consumer price index effective January 1, 2007. It is also
anticipated that additional funds will be generated from the
implementation of the tipping fee surcharge at the Vasco Road
Landfill owned by Republic Services Inc.
The Need
The Altamont Landfill accepts material for disposal from
Alameda County jurisdictions, and from the cities of San
Francisco and San Ramon.
