BACKGROUND <br />The City Clerk staff has administrated the City-wide Records Management Program <br />since 1983 in accordance with City Council approved Procedures for the Disposition of <br />City Records and a Records Retention Schedule. <br />The Retention Schedule is a comprehensive inventory of records managed by city <br />departments that describes each record type and a retention period for each type. <br />Specific state or federal statutes requiring certain minimum or maximum retention <br />periods often define retention periods.
