Circulation Element <br />Program 22.2: Prepare and adopt a citywide pedestrian and bicycle master plan. <br />Identify areas where additional bicycle parking facilities are <br />needed. <br />Program 22.3: Integrate bicycle lanes or separate bikeways into street projects, <br />wherever feasible. <br />Program 22.4 Require design measures and facilities to accommodate access by <br />pedestrians, bicycles, and transit in new developments, including <br />bus shelters and turnabouts, bicycle parking facilities, bicycle and <br />pedestrian trails, and transit-friendly designs for the site <br />perimeter and internal circulation patterns. <br />Program 22.5: Encourage appropriate bicycle-related improvements (i.e., work- <br />place provision for showers, bicycle storage, bicycle lanes, etc.) <br />with new development. <br />Program 22.6: Maintain bicycle routes with adequate sweeping and pavement <br />repairs. <br />Program 22.7: Incorporate bicycle detection at signalized intersections. <br />Program 22.8: Strongly encourage the Pleasanton Unified School District to <br />provide convenient, safe, and attractive bicycle racks at all public <br />schools. <br />Program 22.9: Work with the East Bay Regional Park District to complete the <br />Iron Horse Trail through Hacienda. <br />Program 22.10: Develop the Downtown portion of the Alameda County <br />Transportation Corridor for pedestrian, bicyclists and parking, <br />consistent with the 2002 Master Plan for the Downtown Parks <br />and Trails System and with the Downtown Specific Plan. <br />Program 22.11: Consider creating aCity-sponsored self-service bicycle-sharing <br />program. <br />Policy 23: <br />Create and maintain a safe and convenient pedestrian system which encourages <br />walking as an alternative to driving. <br />Program 23.1: Require developers to finance and install sidewalks and <br />pedestrian pathways in future developments. <br />Program 23.2: Develop a pedestrian trail system which connects all major <br />portions of the Planning Area. <br />Circulation Element 012908 clean 3-52 Cify Council 012908 <br />
