MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 8, 2007 <br />Mayor Hosterman called the Special Meeting to order at 10:52 p.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thome, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: None <br />1. Provide direction to staff regarding the proposed Staples Ranch Development, including <br />Intent to pursue Acquisition of a five-acre site for a Neighborhood ParWJoint Detention Basin <br />Motion: It was m/s by McGovern/Cook-Kallio to direct staff regarding the proposed Staples <br />Ranch Development, including the intent to pursue Acquisition of a five-acre site for a <br />Neighborhood ParWJoint Detention Basin. <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />Motion: It was m/s by Sullivan/Thorne to direct staff to expeditiously initiate a master planning <br />effort for the 17-acre community park, conduct significant outreach to neighborhoods and the <br />community as a whole, hold workshops to obtain input on uses and configuration of the park <br />assisted and facilitated by staff initially, and with the outcome of the process eventually <br />presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Planning Commission and City <br />Council. <br />Ayes: Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Vice Mayor McGovern requested the minutes of the meetings be incorporated throughout the <br />process. City Manager Fialho questioned if the Council had preference on whether a task force <br />should be formed. Councilmember Sullivan preferred that the community interact together and <br />come up with a vision that can be presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission. He did <br />not think they wanted acommission-driven process or aCouncil-driven process, and Vice <br />Mayor McGovern said she wanted to be apprised of work going forward. <br />City Manager Fialho said some statements were made about the bridge for two lanes versus <br />four lanes, said it was never envisioned to be a four-lane bridge, rather two bridges with two <br />lanes each. He asked the Council whether the two bridge option should be put forward as part <br />of the planning process. <br />Councilmember Sullivan said there has been a lot of talk about moving forward with the MOU <br />and being consistent with it. He said atwo-lane bridge was consistent with it and not the two- <br />
