Reverence for Raptors t Page 4 of 4 <br />Where did you grow up? Did you study hawks in school? <br />I'm from the Midwest, and I got a B.S. in biology from Oberlin College in Ohio. In 1968, I moved to <br />California to work for the army in microbiology labs at Fort Baker and Letterman Hospital. I've <br />been with the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory since 1991, and I presently live in Mill Valley. <br />Is there a local raptor that you're worried about? <br />I'm concerned about the red-tailed hawk. Everybody thinks the red-tail is very common, so nobody <br />provides any money to study it, but we're very quickly eating up its habitat. We got excited about <br />saving the peregrine when there were only two left, but that's very late in the game. I don't want to <br />wait that long to help red-tails. <br />Hank Pellissier -a.k.a.
