also talks about her trips to Yosemite and mayors conferences. Who takes care of the hawk while she is
gone`? I read that hawks have to be exercised every day. She is either neglecting the hawk while she is
gone or she has somebody else, probably untrained taking care of it.
It is the job of the city to protect the residents and snake sure the appropriate steins take place in a
residential neighborhood. I admit I am afraid to stand up to the mayor on this but you commissioners
have the job to ensure our safety. I am fearful of this trained hunting animal in my neighborhood and in
my park. The way the mayor talks about training her hawk sounds a lot like how people train their pit
bulls for fighting (with the blood and guts). While this type of activity should not be allowed anywhere,
you should at least ensure it does not happen in our neighborhoods. If you allow the mayor to keep and
train this hunting animal in her backyard, you have to allow anybody else to do the same thing since the
mayor should not be receiving special treatment. Would you approve a hunting hawk in your
neighborhood where the owner is throwing in wild animals for the bird to kill? How about next to a
park? How about next to an elementary or pre-school? These places are no different then what is in
front of you. Other people, kids, and pets are at risk.
Please do not allow the mayor to have special treatment by allowing her to keep a hunting hawk near my
home.
10/8/2007
