concealed spaces; Section 20.24.180 (fire alarm company permits) is amended to <br />provide City with necessary contact information and verification); Section 20.24.190 (fire <br />alarm system monitoring) is amended to provide for targeted response by Fire <br />Department based on monitoring information; Section 20.24.200 (fire alarm systems - <br />existing buildings) is added because need for supervision to promote timely response; <br />Section 20.24.220 (Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities) to parallel local requirements; <br />and Section 20.24.240 (fireworks prohibition) is amended to address operator issues; <br />Section 20.24.260-20.24.320 (Hazardous Materials Management) addresses permitted <br />quantities of toxic and highly toxic materials under specific conditions and Section <br />20.24.330-20.24.370 (Appendix) amends or deletes specific conflicting provisions <br />based on local conditions. <br />6. As to Chapter 20.04, adopts Administrative Provisions for the Technical Codes. <br />This is one all encompassing document that gives legal authority to the Building and <br />Safety Official to issue permits, check building plans and collect fees for the operation <br />of the Building and Safety Division. <br />7. As to Chapter 20.06, adopts the International Existing Building Code. This newly <br />printed document is a useful tool for the management of existing buildings and allows <br />the City to collect monies from FEMA after catastrophic event. <br />8. As to Chapter 20.65, adopts the International Property Maintenance Code. This <br />newly printed document is a useful tool to give the Building and Safety Official authority <br />to require that existing buildings be maintained in a safe and sanitary manner. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that because of the reasons stated, the State of <br />California adopted Building Standards Code, Specifications, and Standards in their <br />entirety do not adequately address the life safety requirements of the City of <br />Pleasanton; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that because of the local topography and recent <br />seismic activity and fire related death and damage in the City of Pleasanton and <br />pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 18941.5 the requirements of the <br />Pleasanton Municipal Code Sections 20.08.012, 20.08.018, 20.08.020, 20.08.022, <br />20.08.030, 20.08.032, 20.08.038, 20.08.039, 20.08.040, 20.08.043, 20.08.045, <br />20.08.046, 20.08.050, 20.08.053, 20.08.055, 20.08.058, 20.08.060, 20.08.063, <br />20.08.065, 20.08.081, 20.08.082, 20.08.083, 20.08.084, 20.08.085, 20.08.086, <br />20.08.088, 20.08.090 and 20.08.094 the codes and standards of this Ordinance are <br />necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Pleasanton; <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1.
