THE CITY OF ~ O <br />-.. ~ i ~ .~. 1 n~ <br />pL~E~S~NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />1 <br />January 15, 2008 <br />Police Department <br />TITLE: APPLICATION TO CLOSE STREETS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS DURING <br />2008 <br />SUMMARY <br />The Pleasanton Municipal Code requires Council approval of parades and special <br />events requiring the closure of City streets <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the Annual Special Event Street Closures for 2008 as detailed in Attachment 1. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This information is being provided to give the City Council and the citizens of <br />Pleasanton an estimate of personnel costs connected to street closures in 2008. <br />It is estimated the Police Department will expend approximately 520 hours of overtime <br />on street closures relating to special events this year. The Streets Department <br />estimates approximately 663 hours to prepare for, set up, and then collect <br />miscellaneous barriers, cones, and barricades for the special events listed in this staff <br />report. <br />After calculating the police personnel costs at an overtime rate and the street <br />department personnel costs associated with 2008 special events street closures are <br />approximately $55,000. <br />
