CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-50 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING DISTRIBUTION OF MEASURE B <br /> PARATRANSIT FUNDS TO TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT 4.5 <br /> CLAIMANTS (TDA 4.5) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, TDA 4.5 claimants are members of and have for the past <br /> eight (8) years worked cooperatively and successfully <br /> with the Alameda County Paratransit Coordinating Council <br /> for the purpose of delivering paratransit services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has an extensive and <br /> comprehensive history as a coordinator of paratransit <br /> services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is currently a claimant for <br /> Transportation Development Act 4.5 paratransit funds <br /> which provide the majority of available paratransit <br /> services to the elderly and disabled; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton staff has developed an expertise <br /> and experience in providing administrative services and <br /> evaluating the effectiveness of community-based <br /> paratransit contractors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, improved and increased service levels can be <br /> accomplished in the most economical manner by <br /> coordination of paratransit funding at the local level; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there does not currently exist a system of fund <br /> distribution for Measure B paratransit funds; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, current claimants are willing to and capable of <br /> providing paratransit service to address the unmet needs <br /> of a larger community if given additional resources; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby recommends to the Alameda <br /> County Transportation Authority that Measure B monies <br /> designated for paratransit purposes be made available in <br /> their entirety to the cities for the purpose of <br /> expanding services in order to meet community <br /> paratransit needs in the most efficient and effective <br /> manner. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Council requests that the Alameda County <br /> Transportation Authority direct its staff to work <br /> cooperatively with the Transportation Development Act <br /> <br /> <br />
