This WSA estimates, in Tables 6-6 and 6 -7, the results of 10 and 25 percent voluntary
conservation by Pleasanton, in the event that Zone 7 reduces deliveries similar to past reductions
that occurred in 1929 -1934, 1977 and 1987 -1992 or that could occur in the future due to potential
environmental mitigation needs within the Sacramento -San Joaquin Delta." The tables assume that
during Normal water years any water supply cutbacks from Zone 7, such as 10 and 25 percent have
similar corresponding water savings by Pleasanton.
Table 6-6: Dry Year Supply and Demand with Voluntary 10% Conservation (AFA)
Purchase Request Year
Normal Year Supply'
10% Zone 7 Delivery Curtailment
GPQ
Demand with 10% Conservation"
2010
18,320
16,488
3,500
19,988
2015
21,800
19,620
3,500
23,120
2020
22,700
20,430
3,500
23,930
2025
23,400
21,060
3,500
24,560
2030
23,400
21,060
3,500
24,560
Notes:
a. This assumes curtailment by SWP to Zone 7; and 10% cutback to Zone 7 water retailers; however, additional supplies would come from other
Zone 7 sources as shown in Table 5-2. Zone 7 did cutback full delivery in past dry year scenarios (1929 1934); (1977); (1987 -1992) and it
reasonable to assume that this would happen in the future.
c. In 1991 and 1992 only voluntary demand reduction stages were implemented from the City's drought ordinance; the City experienced a high
level of customer cooperation. 2002 City of Pleasanton, Urban Water Management Plan, page 10-4.
d. City staff met with the Tri- Valley Water Retailers group to continue contingency planning. A joint publication will outline the issues, address the
reduced pumping, and request a 10% voluntary conservation effort. Even without the pump shutdown, the Td -VaIley Retailers would be looking
for Improved conservaton methods due to the dry winter season. Operations group has been coordinating with adjacent jurisdictions to assure
that water is moved throughout the region to avoid one rottener absorbing the fui effect of a pump shutdown.
