THE CITY OF ~ 0 °i °'=~ '"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT ~L£~S~NTON® December 18, 2007 Public Works Department TITLE: APPROVAL OF A WATER SUPPLY ASSESSMENT FOR THE PROPOSED STONERIDGE DRIVE SPECIFIC PLAN AMENDMENT AND STAPLES RANCH PROJECT SUMMARY Under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the State Water Code [Section 10910(g) (1 )], the City is required to prepare and approve a Water Supply Assessment (WSA) for projects for which a draft environmental impact report will be issued. Because a draft EIR for the Stoneridge Drive Specific Plan Amendment and Staples Ranch Project (Project) will be issued soon, a WSA for that Amendment/Project has been prepared. The WSA analyzes the sufficiency of long-term water supplies to serve the proposed project and cumulative development. Specifically, the assessment is required to identify and assure that sufficient water entitlements and existing and planned infrastructure are available to serve the development. The attached WSA concludes that there are adequate short-term and long-term water supplies and regional treatment/conveyance facilities to provide water service to the Project in compliance with the State Water Code requirements. Approval of the WSA is a preliminary step in the CEQA process and does not constitute any decision relative to the Project itself. RECOMMENDATION Approve and adopt by resolution, the Water Supply Assessment for the proposed Stoneridge Drive Specific Plan Amendment and Staples Ranch Project, pursuant to the State of California Water Code. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The Project sponsors have paid the cost for preparation of the attached WSA, so there are no costs to the City for this report.
