During the past 14 months the
department has made various adjustments to the fees and charges to compensate for
inflation and budgetary constraints and have added and omitted classes and program due
to demand or lack of demand.

Effort has been made to delete from fees those "add-on" that are controlled by the
market, i.e., insurance, uniforms, books. Those fees previously approved that included
such costs have an asterisk.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES (OVER 20%I

Refunds From $2.00 to $5.00

While the refund fee is still modest, it could be considered significant because it is
a 150% increase. The $5.00 refund is proposed to cover the actual cost to the
department to process a refund.

Returned Check Service Fee - New Fee

A $10.00 returned check service fee is proposed to cover the costs of handling.
Returned checks create work for the originating department and the finance department.

Tennis New Program

The fees proposed for the new tennis complex are included in the report. The proposed
fee schedule is consistent with past fees with the exception of a fee for court rental.
A new fee, tennis clinics is also proposed for youth and adults. All proposed tennis
fees are based on covering direct costs associated with play. A staff person will be
on site to open courts, turn on lights, monitor use and secure the facility. That is a
new cost at the new complex and is reflected in the court rental fee.

87 SR:55
1
