1 <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 6, 2007 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Councilmember Sullivan led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />City Attorney Roush said the Council met in Closed Session at 6:30 p.m. and no there was no <br />action to report. <br />Introductory Comments <br />Councilmember Sullivan gave the following introductory comments: Pleasanton Unified School <br />District is hosting a Teen Suicide Prevention Meeting, Saturday, November 10, 2007. Last <br />Sunday the Annual Pleasanton Veterans Day Parade was held. Councilmember Sullivan said <br />there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the question of whether the war in Iraq should <br />be discussed in these Chambers. Although this Council has officially declined to weigh-in on <br />this issue, he encouraged citizens to come to the Council Chambers and express views in <br />respectful ways, free from intimidation. Anything else is censorship, democratic, and in his view, <br />does a dishonor to our countrymen who have sacrificed so that we may enjoy these very <br />freedoms. <br />Roll Call <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS: Councilmember Cook-Kallio referred to the minutes of October <br />2nd; and asked there be a clarification for her comments on page 10, which was on the dais. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Administrative Services <br />1. Approved regular and special meeting minutes of October 2, 2007, and October 16, 2007 <br />as revised. <br />City Manager <br />2. Approved and authorized the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement <br />with Mundie & Associates in an amount not to exceed $42,800 for the preparation of a <br />fiscal impact study for the Staples Ranch development <br />Mavor 8~ City Council <br />2a. Approved the following commissioNcommittee appointments -Alameda County Housing <br />Commission: Christine Steiner 1/1/08 to 12/31/11; Civic Arts Commission: Claudia Hess & <br />alternate John Loll 12/4/07 to 9/20/11; Human Services Commission: Theresa Rowland, <br />David Nagler & Don Wilson 12/4/07 to 9/30/11; Parks & Recreation Commission: Jerry <br />Pentin 10/1/07 to 9/30/11; Youth Commission: Joel Detweiler 10/1/07 to 9/30/09; <br />Economic Vitality Committee: Chris Crabtree, John Mahoney, James Paxson & Dave <br />Walden 12/4/07 to 9/30/11 <br />
