Dowling Associates, Inc. ~ :~.
Transportation Engineering • Planning• Research • Education
These results indicate that the following intersections would operate unacceptably (LOS E or F)
under Existing+Approved conditions:
(4) Bernal & I-680 SB (LOS F in AM and PM)
(6) Bernal & Main (LOS F in AM and PM)
(9) Bernal & Valley (LOS F in PM)
(18) Hopyard & Del Valle (LOS F in PM)
(19) Hopyard & I-580 EB (LOS E in PM)
(20) Hopyard "& Owens (LOS F in PM)
(21) Hopyard & Stoneridge (LOS E in AM)
(22) Hopyard & W. Las Positas (LOS E in PM)
(29) Santa Rita & Stoneridge (LOS E in AM and PM)
(30) Santa Rita & Sutter Gate (LOS F in AM and PM)
(31) Santa Rita & Valley (LOS E in PM)
(32) Stanley & ValleyBernal (LOS F in AM and LOS E in PM)
(33) Sunol & I-.680 NB (LOS F in AM and PM)
(35) Valley & Blackbird (LOS E in PM)
(41) Valley & Santa Cruz (LOS E in AM)
(44) West Las Positas & Muirwood (LOS F in PM)
Five other study intersections would operate below LOS D, but are exempted from the City's
LOS standard by the Downtown Specific Plan:
(12) First & Kottinger/Spring (LOS F in AM and PM)
(13) First & Ray/Vineyard (LOS E in AM and PM)
(23) Main & Ray (LOS F in PM)
(24) Main & St. John (LOS F in PM)
(25) Main & St. Mary (LOS F in AM and PM)
Existing +Approved + Project Conditions Without Loop Road
For this analysis case, the traffic that would be generated by the proposed Home Depot Shopping
Center was manually added to the Existing+Approved traffic volume levels. Table 4 details the
trip generation estimate for the project.
Since the project would contain multiple retail uses and a fast food restaurant, it was assumed
that some portion of the trips for the retail and fast food restaurant would be from the same
vehicles. Procedures outlined in the ITE Trip Generation Handbook were used to determine the
internal capture of trips between the various land use types. An overall internal capture of 16°%
and 41 % was calculated for the AM and PM peak hours, respectively. The internal capture
volumes are summarized in Table 4 (calculation worksheets are included in the Appendix).
~ Trip Generation Handbook, 2"d Edition, Institute of Transportation Engineers, 2004.
Traffic Analysis Page I1
Home Depot Shoppi~lg Center, Pleasanton
