THE CITY OF _ ~ pL~ " S~4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 1 December 4, 2007 Mayor and City Council TITLE: APPROVE MAYOR'S RECOMMENDATION OF AT-LARGE RESIDENT MEMBERS FOR BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE SUMMARY At the City Council Meeting of September 4, 2007, the City Council approved plans for formation of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). This committee will oversee the development of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. After the completion of the Master Plan, the BPAC will continue to provide input and direction on bicycle and pedestrian issues. The BPAC will consist of four resident at-large representatives (including one representative of the youth community), and representatives from the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Trails Ad Hoc Committee and the Planning Commission. The resident at-large representatives will serve for a term of two year; the representatives from other City Commissions/Committees will serve for the term of their service on the Commission/Committee of origin. In order to recruit at-large resident members for the BPAC, a notice was placed in the Pleasanton Weekly, and staff contacted residents who had previously expressed an interest in serving on such a committee. Ten applications were received for the four available resident at-large positions. Staff also requested representatives from the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission and Trails Ad Hoc Committee. RECOMMENDATION Approve the following BPAC membership: Ursula Goldstein -Resident At-large member Jeff Grell -Resident At-large member William Rose -Resident At-large member Melissa Ott -Resident At-large youth member Jennifer Pearce -Planning Commission Jerry Pentin -Parks and Recreation Commission Joe Jones -Trails Ad Hoc Committee
