CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-266 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ENDORSING, IN GENERAL PRINCIPLE, A GENERAL <br /> OBLIGATION BOND ISSUE TO FINANCE THE CONSTRUCTION OF <br /> HOUSING IN ALAMEDA COUNTY FOR LOW INCOME SENIORS AND THE <br /> DISABLED <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has received the report of the <br /> Alameda County Senior Housing Needs Task Force; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes that the senior <br /> population is the most rapidly growing segment of the <br /> population; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes that a large portion <br /> of the senior population is on fixed incomes and have <br /> low incomes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes the need for <br /> appropriately designed and affordable housing for low <br /> income seniors and the disabled; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes that the private <br /> market is not and cannot fulfill this need for <br /> affordable housing without public support and that there <br /> is a limited amount of federal and state assistance to <br /> support housing for low income seniors and the disabled; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes the need to join with <br /> other neighboring communities to take local initiative <br /> to meet this need; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City of Pleasanton does endorse, in general <br /> principle, a general obligation bond issue to finance <br /> construction of housing for low income seniors and the <br /> disabled in Alameda County. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Council and staff will work with the County <br /> and other cities in the county to develop the bond <br /> issue. <br /> <br /> <br />
