length shall be programmable increments. At least 6 numbered
offsets and S numbered splits shall be available. Additionally, in
the Timing Pattern Routine, it shall be possibly to designate the
intersections which are to be assigned to subsystem by particular
Timing Pattern. It shall also be possible to place any
intersection in flash while this Timing Pattern is in effect.

(6) Speed Calculation Routines. The computer and/or surveillance
asse!'mi~lie~ shall be capable of computing speed by the distance/time
method. One or two detectors may be utilized and spaced the
effective distance to be progran~ned.

The time between speed calculations shall be programmable by the
operator in a range from 1 minute to ZO minutes in 1 minute
increments. It shall be possible to obtain an automatic speed
calculation printout at the time of each calculation.

(7) System Display Routine. Results of subsystem calculations.shall be
listed at the'hard copy printer and remote terminals. The master
computer shall enable the terminals to print the pattern number,
cycle length, offset, and split assigned to each subsystem. The
subsystem status shall be followed by a listing of the volume and
occupancy percentage for outputs of each Calculation Routine.
There shall be at least S options for displaying each subsystem.
These are:

a. Display Immediate -- The parameters shall immediately be
displayed when requested by the operator. The information so
displayed will reflect results of the last calculation.

b. Display Automatic -- A listing shall be enabled whenever there
is a change pattern number.

c. Display Pattern -- Same as display automatic except that the
individual detector data and percentage results of Calculation
Routines shall not be displayed.

d. Display None -- No display desired.

e. Display Timed -- A listing shall be enabled whenever there is a
calculation made or automatically at one minute intervals,
whichever occurs first.

Additional automatic routines, not progranm~able by the operator, shall
be provided as follows:

(1) Standby and Failure Routines. These routines shall automatically
provide '~lie "'following:

a. Orderly shutdown of the master control center in the event of
power fail ure.

b. Diagnostic monitoring of the computer system operation and
initiation of a master control shutdown if computer system
mallunction is detected.

-11 -
