j. The electronic gauge display shall be both digital and analog display, and back lighted with <br />the touch of a button. <br />k. The SCBA shall have a low battery display easily read by the user when in operation. <br />1. Actual real time breathing consumption rate shall be used to determine time to low pressure <br />alarm. <br />m. Low pressure alarm shall be anon-aspirating whistle at the reducer and electronic chirp from <br />the gauge (see point q). <br />n. The secondary low-pressure alarm shall be an approved part of the SCBA and meet the <br />requirements of the current editions of NFPA-1981 and 42 C1+R, Part 84. <br />o. The unit shall have an electronic low pressure alarm in the form of an electronic chirp or <br />tone, which is distinct from all other alarms. <br />p. Two rear enunciators, to meet NFPA-1981 2007 edition PASS warning requirements shall be <br />integrated into the back plate. <br />q. The rear enunciators shall be on the left and right hand side of the back plate when the <br />cylinder is in position. ` <br />r. A user ID shall be programmable into the unit. <br />s. All data from the electronic unit shall be down-loadable through an lR port to a computer. <br />5. Back Plate, Harness Assembly and Integrated Electronic System <br />a. The back plate shall be atwo-piece, anti-static carbon fiber composite construction with <br />orthopedic design so as to evenly distribute the weight of the SCBA over the user's lumbar <br />region, hips and shoulders. <br />b. The back plate shall have a three position multi-height adjustment so as to customize the unit <br />to the wearer torso. <br />c. The back plate waist belt shall be designed to move in a vertical up and down movement to <br />provide maximum movement when bending forward and stretching. <br />d. The waist pad shall swivel from side to side by approximately 30 degrees to increase comfort <br />and stability when moving. <br />e. Central battery supply and electronic modules shall be housed in the "back" of the back plate <br />£ The battery supply shall utilize alkaline batteries or lithium Ion rechargeable batteries to <br />provide a minimum of 12 months battery life. <br />g. The back plate shall have two (2) handles one on either side of the back plate so to allow <br />carrying the SCBA or for ease of donning or to assist in dragging a fire fighter in the event of <br />a rescue. Each handle must be able to withstand 450 pounds of force. <br />h. The SCBA shall accommodate a 30, 45 and 60 minute 4500 psi full composite, carbon fiber <br />cylinder. <br />i. The back plate shall extend below the cylinder valve to afford additional protection to valve <br />and regulator, and also to protect the wearer's tailbone in the event the user falls backward. <br />j. The internal padding of both shoulder and waist pads shall be of a closed cell construction to <br />eliminate water absorption and provide maximum comfort. <br />k. The external padding cover shall be high abrasion resistant, high puncture resistant, non slip, <br />impregnated waterproof rubber (chlorophrene) coated, quick drying, chemical resistant and <br />inherently fire retardant material. <br />1. The harness webbing shall be constructed of a heavy duty, high temperature <br />Kevlara/Ublend/aramid type material. <br />7 <br />
