CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-349 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONTINUED FUNDING AT EXISTING <br /> LEVELS FOR THE VALLEY MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Valley Mental Health Clinic provides quality mental <br /> health services essential to the valley community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Valley Mental Health Clinic is the only such service <br /> available in the area to serve those with limited <br /> incomes or those with long term mental illness; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, ranked by either productivity or cost effectiveness, the <br /> Valley Mental Health Clinic compares favorably with <br /> other county health clinics; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the funding reduction proposed for the Valley Clinic <br /> represent 54% of the present budget thereby eliminating <br /> or reducing critical services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed funding reductions are selective, and would <br /> result in the Livermore-Amador Valley area being the <br /> only area in the County 25-30 miles from the nearest <br /> County operated adult and children's out-patient <br /> service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed funding cuts and resulting service cuts to <br /> the Valley are being considered at a time when the <br /> Valley is experiencing growth and a possible need for <br /> expanding services; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of Pleasanton supports and <br /> encourages any actions of the Alameda County Board of <br /> Supervisors which will continue funding to the Valley <br /> Mental Health Clinic at existing levels. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
