CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-518 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AB 2020, TME CALIFORNIA HEALTH <br /> PLAN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cost of adequate health care insurance has become <br /> greater. than most people can afford and millions of <br /> Californians do not have economic access to needed <br /> medical services, including many who are 60 years of age <br /> or over and can least afford to be without medical care; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, AB 2020 would provide medical and hospital coverage for <br /> all Californians regardless of age, income, or medical <br /> history and would offer a full range of benefits for the <br /> entire life of each individual; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton is aware of <br /> the need for a better health care delivery system; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton joins the <br /> Board of Supervisors of Alameda County in support of AB <br /> 2020, the California Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED DECEMBER 1, 1987 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> RCE~, MAYOR <br /> <br /> By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br /> ~'~i~MacDonalc, City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
