Angela St., Pleasanton CA
Dear Mike,
The City of Pleasanton asked that 1 appraise the value of the oak tree recommended for
preservation at the subject site.
In appraising the value of the plants in this area, I employed the standard methods found
in Guide forP/antAppralsal, 9th edition (published in 2000 by the International Society
of Arboriculture, Savoy IL). In addition, I referred to Species C/assiflcation and Group
Assignment (2004), a publication of the Western Chapter of the Intemational Society of
Arboriculture. These two documents outline the methods employed in tree appraisal.
The value of landscape trees is based upon four factors: size, species, condition and
location. Size is measured as trunk diameter, normally 54" above grade. The species
factor considers the adaptability and appropriateness of the plant in the East Bay area.
The Species Classiflcat/on and Group Assignment lists recommended species
ratings. Condition reflects the health and structural integrity of the individual and reflects
the condition as documented in October, 2006. The location factor considers the site,
placement and contribution of the tree in its surrounding landscape.
Based upon the factors listed above, I appraised the value of the 28"diameter valley oak
at x15,000.
If you have any questions regarding this appraisal, please contact me.
Sincerely,
;'~ ` : !
~~ ~~~ °~
,~...~
John Leffingwell
Certified Arborist #WE3966
Registered Consulting Arborist #442
^ 2150 Rheem Or., Suite A
Pleasanton CA 94588
925 484 0211
FAX 925 4845096
