E~] <br />THE CITY OF <br />~L£~S~4NTONo <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />October 16, 2007 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED BY MCGUIRE <br />AND NESTER FOR THE SANTOS RANCH ROAD PUMP STATION AND <br />WATER FACILITIES UPGRADE, CIP NO. 991035 <br />SUMMARY <br />Construction of the subject project is complete and ready for acceptance. The project <br />included the reconstruction of three water booster pump stations along Santos Ranch <br />Road. The reconstruction of all three pump stations provided for the replacement of the <br />existing pumps, piping, electrical equipment, and appurtenant buildings. In addition, <br />Water Storage Tank 900 was replaced. City Council awarded the project to the lowest <br />responsible bidder, McGuire and Hester of Oakland, California, on January 17, 2006 in <br />the amount of $1,881,450. This pump station reconstruction was a part of a larger <br />Santos Ranch Road water facility rehabilitation project, with total project expenditures of <br />$3,259,369. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Accept the improvements for the subject project. <br />2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br />3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $102,820.66 to McGuire and <br />Hester thirty days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br />4. Authorize final payment to McGuire and Hester in the amount of $1,424.53. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Funding for this project was allocated over a number of years in the approved Capital <br />Improvement Program (CIP). The attached Funding/Expenditures Summary <br />(Attachment 1) includes all phases of this CIP project. The subject project replaced <br />materials and equipment that had exceeded their useful life with new equipment and <br />fixtures with an expected lifespan of 25 years. Ongoing yearly maintenance and repair <br />costs will be significantly reduced since most of the equipment is new and expected to <br />be more reliable. <br />
