Members of the City Council:
The City Council appoints and evaluates the City Attorney. The City Council concluded
its evaluation of the City Attorney in August 2007; the City Attorney's previous
evaluation was in October 2004.
Based on that evaluation, the attached resolution adjusts the annual salary of the City
Attorney by 10%, from $170,336 to $187,370. All other terms and conditions of
employment, as reflected in Resolution Nos. 88-476, 00-007 and 04-085 remain
unchanged other than a clarification concerning the accrual of annual leave. In
resolutions establishing the City Attorney's compensation and benefits, the benefits
granted to other management employees were extended to the City Attorney. See, for
example, Resolution No. 00-007 and 04-085. Inadvertently, however, the City
Attorney's accrual rate for annual leave purposes was not adjusted after his ninth year.
The attached resolution provides expressly that the City Attorney's accrual rate for
annual leave purposes is to be the same as other management employees (those
benef' re reflect on esolution No. 06-073) and that adjustment is retroactive from
his n yeayof loy~ient to the present.
Mayor
Attachment: 1.
