CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-476 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION RENAMING PORTION OF OLD BERNAL AVENUE SOUTH <br /> OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH BERNAL AVENUE TO CASE AVENUE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to avoid confusion resulting from three street <br /> segments being named "Bernal", it is necessary and <br /> appropriate to rename that portion of Old Bernal Avenue <br /> south of its intersection with Bernal Avenue and which <br /> serves Civic Square apartments and the future senior <br /> housing project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Gerald Case was formerly active in senior affairs and <br /> served on the Human Services Commission for the City of <br /> Pleasanton; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to honor Mr. Case and to emphasize both the <br /> civic center and the seniors theme, it is suggested that <br /> the portion of Old Bernal Avenue be renamed Case Avenue; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: The City Council hereby renames that portion of Old <br /> Bernal Avenue south of its intersection with Bernal <br /> Avenue to "Case Avenue." <br /> <br /> Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED OCTOBER 20, 1987 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br /> <br /> ATTEST: <br /> KENNET~ R?
