3.2 Salary Range ~ments. Management employees shall be <br /> eligible for a salary adjustment on October 1st of each year. <br /> Salary increases shall be made on the basis of individual <br /> performance. Under special circumstances, individual <br /> management employees may receive a salary adjustment at times <br /> other than October 1st. All salary adjustments shall be <br /> approved by the city manager. <br /> <br /> Confidential employees shall be eligible for a merit <br /> increase on their anniversary date until the top of <br /> their salary range is reached. Advances shall not be <br /> automatic but shall depend upon rendering satisfactory <br /> performance. Following adjustments in the salary range <br /> of their classification, confidential employees shall be <br /> placed at the same salary step in the revised range that <br /> they held in the former range. <br /> <br /> 3.3 Salary Setting - Original Appointment. Upon approval of <br /> the city manager, newly appointed management and <br /> confidential employees shall be assigned a salary within <br /> their classification salary range for which their <br /> education, experience, and training qualifies them. <br /> <br /> 3.4 Salary Setting - Promotion. When a management or <br /> confidential employee is promoted he/she shall be <br /> assigned a salary within the range of new classification <br /> that is at least five percent above the salary held in <br /> the former classification. <br /> <br />Section 4. Special Pay <br /> <br /> 4.1 Overtime Middle Management Employees. Specified middle <br /> management employees may be eligible for overtime <br /> compensation under special circumstances approved by the <br /> city manager. Said overtime shall be compensated at a <br /> rate equal to one and one-half (1-1/2) times the <br /> employee's regular rate of pay calculated to the nearest <br /> one-tenth (1/10) of an hour. <br /> <br /> Overtime Confidential Employees. Confidential employees <br /> who are required to work after completion of their work <br /> day shall be entitled to overtime compensation for all <br /> hours so worked, provided, however, that the overtime <br /> rate shall be computed at one and one-half (1-1/2) times <br /> the employee's regular rate of pay as calculated to the <br /> nearest one-tenth (1/10) of an hour. ~onfidential <br /> employees may be compensated for overtime worked either <br /> by monetary payment or by compensatory time off, at the <br /> option of the employee. Compensatory time shall accrue <br /> at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the <br /> overtime hours worked. Compensatory time off which <br /> accrues in excess of forty (40) hours must be liquidated <br /> by monetary payment.
