CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-454 <br /> <br /> AUTHORIZE APPROPRIATION FOR CONSULTANT REGARDING <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Downtown Pleasanton is in need of costly capital <br /> improvements including redesign of roadways, provision <br /> of additional parking and landscaping and the possible <br /> relocation of public utilities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has appointed a citizen's Task Force to <br /> investigate the feasibility of identifying and financing <br /> needed Downtown capital improvements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Community Development Agency Task Force has <br /> recommended that the City Council direct staff to take <br /> the necessary steps to create a Community Development <br /> Agency (CDA); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to form a CDA, City staff requires assistance <br /> in the formation of the CDA; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the formation of a <br /> CDA will promote the public health, safety and welfare <br /> of Downtown and the entire City of Pleasanton; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby amends the 1987-88 budget by <br /> an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 for consulting <br /> expertise to assist staff in recommending the <br /> appropriate steps to create a Community Development <br /> Agency for Downtown Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Manager is authorized and directed to do any <br /> and all things which he may deem necessary and advisable <br /> in order to initiate creation of a Community Development <br /> Agency and give effect to and comply with the terms and <br /> intent of this Resolution including, but not limited to, <br /> execution of contracts for personal and legal services. <br /> <br /> <br />
